What follows is an excellent primer from the the users manual for the superb Day Sequerra Reference Tuner now discontinued The selection and installation of an appropriate FM antenna is arguably the most important aspect of receiving high quality FM broadcasts. No single antenna type, whether indoor or outdoor, is perfect for all receiving situations. The intent of this overview is to aid in the selection of an FM antenna that best suits your receiving location. The next few paragraphs describe the types of readily available FM receiving antennas. Even though a common outdoor television antenna may, in a few instances, provide acceptable results, antennas specifically designed to receive the FM broadcast band, generally 88 MHz to MHz, are the most effective for FM reception. The FM broadcast signal is VHF very high frequency in nature and generally can only be received within a distance known as “line of sight” Without hills, mountains, or buildings to impede its progress, an FM phenomenon commonly known as “diffraction” causes the FM broadcast signal to conform to the curvature of the earth for a distance of approximately 30 miles beyond normal line of sight. It is this phenomenon that provides for long distance or “fringe reception” of the FM broadcast signal.
Where performance and simplicity are paramount but space is sparse, the Model One mono table radio fits the bill. The Model One features a hand-crafted wooden case with a layered finish, similar to that of fine furniture. In an era when iPods feel obsolete after six months, there are still some products you’ll be searching for on eBay decades from now. Tivoli wins the contest for the best tabletop radio on the market.
Improve FM reception on your Wave system with this dipole FM antenna. Ideal in remote areas or wherever clear reception is difficult. Plugs into antenna input on the back of your system.
Just saw this in the classifieds Describe your radio, does it have AM antenna terminals? A built in ferrite stick antenna? The best solution I have found for AM broadcast band is a loop. There are two kinds, tuned and untuned. An untuned loop will attach to the ground and AM antenna terminals on an stereo receiver or tuner. This loop can be made from a simple wood frame, or cross, with brass shoulder hooks on each arm.
A shoulder hook is similar to a cup hook. A hardware store item. Screw them together to form an X or cross.
Another trim panel falling off. More trim coming off. Note the cut line for the plasti-veneer isn’t even straight. Panel fallen down behind stove. Dent, scrape or problem near roof – from delivery date. Wrote to Winnebago; copy to Jeff rvcountry.

On August 9, at I used to keep stacks of these in my toolbox they conveniently press together. Beware, they have two that appear nearly identical You want the one with the hollow center conductor like Ernie says , and not the one with the center pin that looks like a center pin of an RCA cable. I said the connector on the receiver, not on the adaptor, had a hollow center conductor.
I only knew that the push-on adaptors came in one flavor: I just used an adaptor made to make it easier for an F connector connection to be rapidly put on and removed.
Follow these steps to connect the antenna’s output to your TV or FM receiver. Place the antenna on top of the TV or. FM receiver so it is close to the VHF.

Power Supplies A constant current source source can supply a fixed current to a load regardless of input voltage or load change. The LM is quite useful as a constant current source, works on a wide input voltage range, from 3V up to 40V. The circuit is rather simple, uses only one transistor and few passive components and performs well in terms of frequency stability, almost zero drifting after about 4 hours of continuous operation. With 12 volt DC it will deliver 1 watt RF power.
The most important parts of the oscillator are the transistor Q1 and the tuned circuit, which comprises the inductor Ll and the variable capacitor CV1. When the battery is first connected, a brief surge of current flows from the collector to the emitter of Q1, causing an oscillating i. An oscillating voltage therefore appears at the junction of Ll and CV1.
The frequency of the oscillation depends on the values of Ll and CV1, so that varying the value of CV1 tunes the oscillations to the exact frequency required. In order to achieve a high output level, you will need a well tuned antenna, and a large heatsink to dissipate the heat from T2 transistor. Transmitter was mounted in metal enclosure and works extremely well. Test and Measurement I finally got round to making my capacitor ESR tester this week after finding a nice simple 5 transistor version.
I will not be going into much detail regarding ESR or Equivalent Series Resistance Meters as, there is already plenty of other sources of information on the subject. Yet, every tinkering knows capacitors are guilty of a lot of sins in electronics. Capacitors love to throw red herrings!
TV also connected to powered antenna amplifier splitter works fine. FM mode produces only static. If I understand your setup, you’ve connected the receiver antenna terminal to the output of the antenna amplifier. If this is true, I’d suggest trying the receiver using a plain old FM dipole antenna available at Radio Shack and other stores or even just a piece of wire hooked to the antenna terminal. You should be able to pick up some local FM stations then. What might be happening is that the FM is being filtered out by the amplifier.

Hooked this up to where the cable came in, split between 6 TV’s and the signal is fine. For the cost of 1 cable bill this antenna is well worth the investment. Lynda Cook Rating Good product does what it says. Jeffrey Kenney Rating This is an amazing upgrade. The quality was so good that I decided to install in my attic instead of on top of the house. I am getting 40 Channels!!! A great alternative to heavy LPA antennas. It is somewhat directional, but overall it is easy to work with.
Get the Mohu Jolt 4-way amplifier, the results are better than the single output amp included. Paul Owen Rating Very easy instal and not one spec of static, outstanding reception. Gross “kmgross” Rating This antenna was placed in the attic of my new home during construction, and I was happy to find out that the reception meets or exceeds my expectations.
It does not matter if you have a CD loaded to enter this mode. Press service again and you get an antenna connection indicator. Another press shows signal strength, e. You can change stations and bands.
When I was still in high school in Midland, Texas, I actually hooked up a quarter wave whip antenna to my AM radio. I think the length was feet, I am pretty sure it was 22 guage.
Byron Collett at byron audioprism. Often, it’s very difficult to pick up desired stations inside an office building. The villains here are usually the metal-frame building which can shield the signals and prevent them from reaching your indoor antenna , fluorescent lighting fixtures which often produce broad-spectrum electronic noise , and interference-producing devices like computers and other office equipment.
In some cases, locating a set of rabbit ears against an outside window can improve office reception. As above, it’s important to try the antenna and radio in several locations around the office, sniffing out good signal areas. One positive thing about indoor antennas is that they’re easy to pack up and return to the store if they don’t perform. Be sure to determine the store’s return policy before you purchase any antenna. Talk to the equipment salesperson about your reception problem to establish in advance why you’re considering a new receiver.
A current-model receiver may only marginally improve reception, but may have other features, such as station pre-sets and digital tuning, which will aid in finding your favorite stations.
Connections Connecting Your Speakers Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before making any connections. Speaker Connection Precautions The receiver allows you to connect two sets of speakers. When two sets of speakers are connected, you can select which speaker set outputs sound or use both sets to output sound simultaneously. Connecting A Recording Component see page
The RetroSound HPA1 amplified AM/FM hide-away antenna is a great solution for anyone who doesn’t want to install a standard fender-mount antenna. The HPA1 installs in seconds using a standard antenna plug and your radio’s power antenna wire.
They are quite rare and very hard to find in such pristine condition. It still has the original patina, dark brown and copper just like the factory produced them. So many of these radios have had the patina polished away, missing the reins or the saddle. Blake has replaced all of the paper capacitors, tested and replaced bad resistors and checked all of the tubes.
He performed a proper alignment, making this little five-tube, AM only radio play like new. A very cool gift for that horse lover, or man cave.
Antennas Home-made antennas can greatly improve the performance of AM and FM radios, short-wave receivers, and scanners. If you are a talk-radio fan then experiment with the AM band antennas and you will be able to hear shows from all over the country with surprising clarity. Short-wave receivers are always coping with weak signals and they must have a good antenna to perform adequately. Scanners can pick up local police and two-way radio with the little telescoping antenna provided but with good antennas a scanner becomes an amazing ear on the world nearby.
No pre-amp, filter or other receiver refinement offers anywhere near the level of performance improvement t that a well-designed antenna offers.
The Terk Tower is a high performance, indoor amplified AM FM antenna, that will help you receive more of your favorite stations. Designed to be technologically superior, virtually eliminating noise while still being easy to connect with any radio, receiver and tuner.

The search is over The FMY-1 is the antenna of choice for the professional personal radio broadcaster! What does this mean to you?
I tried an AM loop antenna from a Teak AG receiver and also tried a tunable AM ring antenna from Radio Shack that works on a Panasonic mini-receiver. Neither work with the TX receiver. All I get is static with no AM reception at all, even if I tune the RS ring antenna.
Share on Facebook If your cable TV provider supplies FM radio stations, you can pick up the signal through a cable connected to your home theater or stereo receiver. Some receivers are equipped with a coaxial input to connect with a cable. Other models have a pair of spring-clip connectors that hold the two wires for an FM antenna. For a wire connection, you’ll need a device called a Balun transformer, which has two wire leads on one end and a coaxial jack on the other.
A Balun transformer can also be used to connect a wire-lead receiver to a coaxial cable antenna for improved reception. Coaxial cable with threaded coupler on the end for the receiver connection. Step Turn off and unplug the receiver. Step Connect the coaxial cable directly to the receiver’s matching input jack or hook up the cable to the coaxial jack on one end of a Balun transformer. Twist the metal fastener on the cable end clockwise around the jack.
Video of the Day Step Attach the two wires on the other end of the transformer to the two terminals on the receiver labeled for an FM antenna. Either wire can be hooked up to either antenna terminal for this type of connection. Step Connect the other end of the cable to the output jack on the back of the cable box or to the jack on the base of your antenna.
